Life Ain't What It Seems, Kid

Five words to describe my week/weekend:

1. Miserable
2. Painful
3. Sleepless
4. Exhausting
5. Nice (referring to the company)

Ah, yes. So, as you can see, my weekend did not turn out as planned. I guess that's life and I guess I shouldn't be surprised. For what should be thrown my way when I'm most looking forward to a nice weekend? That's right, strep throat.

My symptoms started getting increasingly worse as the weekend wore on. By Sunday it was in full swing and my throat, as well as the rest of my body, was under attack. Monday, instead of skiing as anticipated, I spent a good 2 or more hours in the Student Health center. Joy. I was given medicine, which I have been taking dutifully, yet for some reason, this thing is still persisting! I think it's cause I got medicine too late. If I had gone to the doctor earlier, it wouldn't have made it to full swing. Michael also got strep throat while he was here, but they caught it in time, so he didn't have it as bad as I did. Still, I've been in my room all week, trying to rest and get better, but also trying to spend time with family. I've got TONS of makeup work to do, but luckily I've got a whole weekend ahead of me to do it!

The parts of the weekend where I wasn't sick were actually pretty fun! We had a St. Patrick's Day party on Saturday night, where we had green jello, jello cake and more green treats. Then we had green bingo, where all the prizes were green. Later we played the Candy Bar game, which was pretty fun too. It was great spending time with family!

I've got to say though, being sick like this has really made me very homesick. I miss the old complacent days where when I was sick, I just stayed home on the couch and watched Pride and Prejudice! I almost looked forward to those days! Now when I'm sick, I'm all by my lonesome in my room, watching episodes of random shows on my laptop on my bed. I guess it's just weird cause it's my first time being sick as a (kind of) grown-up. I mean, granted, I have Aunt Em and Grandma to take care of me, and they totally did this weekend. But while I've been back in my dorm room, I've totally been on my own. Luckily, I have nice friends who've gone and gotten me food and stuff when I need it. I love my friends. :) But I really do miss home.

Oh yeah! One of my long-time dreams was fulfilled last night! I FINALLY found/bought lucky bamboo! I know it's completely silly, but I've always wanted to have some, and for a while now I've wanted to have some kind of plant in my room. This isn't exactly the same thing as having a plant that you water every day, but it's one step closer, right? It's way cute, and I got some cool pebble-y type stuff to put in the vase that holds the bamboo. It was totally a steal, cause each bamboo stick was $1! I was so stoked, and I just couldn't pass it up. I looked it up on the internet, and there was a website that said that the number of bamboo sticks you get represent what you'll get luck in. Guess what? 2= love! So we'll see if it really holds true, hmm? :) Anyways, there's a picture on the left of my bamboo! :)

So hopefully once I get all caught up with my schoolwork, I can focus on my plans for the summer, finals, and signing my lease for next year! Not to mention figuring out what classes I want to take next fall. I'm really excited though! It's going to be great! :)
