Life Ain't What It Seems, Kid

Five words to describe my week/weekend:

1. Miserable
2. Painful
3. Sleepless
4. Exhausting
5. Nice (referring to the company)

Ah, yes. So, as you can see, my weekend did not turn out as planned. I guess that's life and I guess I shouldn't be surprised. For what should be thrown my way when I'm most looking forward to a nice weekend? That's right, strep throat.

My symptoms started getting increasingly worse as the weekend wore on. By Sunday it was in full swing and my throat, as well as the rest of my body, was under attack. Monday, instead of skiing as anticipated, I spent a good 2 or more hours in the Student Health center. Joy. I was given medicine, which I have been taking dutifully, yet for some reason, this thing is still persisting! I think it's cause I got medicine too late. If I had gone to the doctor earlier, it wouldn't have made it to full swing. Michael also got strep throat while he was here, but they caught it in time, so he didn't have it as bad as I did. Still, I've been in my room all week, trying to rest and get better, but also trying to spend time with family. I've got TONS of makeup work to do, but luckily I've got a whole weekend ahead of me to do it!

The parts of the weekend where I wasn't sick were actually pretty fun! We had a St. Patrick's Day party on Saturday night, where we had green jello, jello cake and more green treats. Then we had green bingo, where all the prizes were green. Later we played the Candy Bar game, which was pretty fun too. It was great spending time with family!

I've got to say though, being sick like this has really made me very homesick. I miss the old complacent days where when I was sick, I just stayed home on the couch and watched Pride and Prejudice! I almost looked forward to those days! Now when I'm sick, I'm all by my lonesome in my room, watching episodes of random shows on my laptop on my bed. I guess it's just weird cause it's my first time being sick as a (kind of) grown-up. I mean, granted, I have Aunt Em and Grandma to take care of me, and they totally did this weekend. But while I've been back in my dorm room, I've totally been on my own. Luckily, I have nice friends who've gone and gotten me food and stuff when I need it. I love my friends. :) But I really do miss home.

Oh yeah! One of my long-time dreams was fulfilled last night! I FINALLY found/bought lucky bamboo! I know it's completely silly, but I've always wanted to have some, and for a while now I've wanted to have some kind of plant in my room. This isn't exactly the same thing as having a plant that you water every day, but it's one step closer, right? It's way cute, and I got some cool pebble-y type stuff to put in the vase that holds the bamboo. It was totally a steal, cause each bamboo stick was $1! I was so stoked, and I just couldn't pass it up. I looked it up on the internet, and there was a website that said that the number of bamboo sticks you get represent what you'll get luck in. Guess what? 2= love! So we'll see if it really holds true, hmm? :) Anyways, there's a picture on the left of my bamboo! :)

So hopefully once I get all caught up with my schoolwork, I can focus on my plans for the summer, finals, and signing my lease for next year! Not to mention figuring out what classes I want to take next fall. I'm really excited though! It's going to be great! :)

Helloooo Weekend!

Well I, for one, could not be more ready for the weekend. It's been a long, busy week and it's still not over! I'm trying to get all my work done for school before I go spend the weekend with family. Next week is gonna be a doozy- I've got three tests, two of them on the same day, and those two are my hardest classes. Joy!

On a happier note though, I had a really great day yesterday! :) I ended up getting a really great grade on a memoir that I wrote for my Creative Writing Class. A few of my friends got their mission calls, which was also really cool.

I still haven't heard back from the Northwoods Apartment people, but I hope I will soon. I want to live there so bad! I look at pictures of the place at least 3 times a day. It just seemed like such a great fit! I really hope that I can get that settled soon.

So I'm a little bit nervous cause I'm going skiing this Monday! I've only been skiing once, and I wasn't very good at it- I kept falling down and it was miserable-well, at least until we found the bunny hill. I guess at least now I know where the Bunny Hill is, so I'll be much better! (Fingers crossed)

Here's a picture of me from last time:

So my plans for the day are:
- Go to Grandma's and help her get the house ready
- Finish studying for my two tests and make flashcards
-PACK- there's so much to pack, not enough room to pack it!
-Watch the Office :)

Exciting, I know! Anyways. Have a good day, everyone! :)

There's nothing better than...

....deciding to have an impromptu girls night and go see a chick flick at the dollar movie theater!

Which is what I just got back from doing. :) Brittany, Megan and I just went and saw Leap Year, which is a fantastically cute chick flick. PS- I want one of those cool irish rings, the ones that look like this:

I'm kind of obsessed with the cute guy that was in it now. It's Matthew Goode, and he's a little bit gorgeous.

Exhibit B:

Haha, so I know that two exhibits were not needed, but I wanted to give them just the same. LOVE his eyes. I'm just saying. Anyways, it was a fun night! Although I didn't get the Biology homework done that I needed to, but it was totally worth it. I'll just get it done tomorrow! Overall, it was a pretty awesome day today. (The Cannon Center served all my favorite stuff for lunch today! Blue jello w/ whipped cream, bananas, french meat sandwich thingy, and white cake with chocolate icing!)

For some reason it feels like a Thursday, which is strange, but nice, cause this means I'll have more time than I feel like I do to get the stuff done that I need to! If that makes any sense. Well, I'm off to watch the Psych finale- it's going to be pretty intense, and I'll probably have nightmares. Big shocker though, considering I've been having them for four nights straight. Oh well! Maybe tonight will be better.

I need a dreamcatcher.

Technology... What a beautiful thing!

So my blog is newly vamped, thanks to a great website that I found! I love the new look, it's giving me added incentive to write more often! Haha. So good news, I finally found a place to live next year! I'm so excited. It's called Northwoods Apartment, it's about a 5-10 minute walk from campus and it's exactly what I've been looking for! The living room and kitchen were both very spacious, and the rooms were a little small, but definitely do-able. It just seemed like a perfect fit. Plus, they have really cute pink doors and I just think it's the right place for me!

So I think I'm going to make another blog that's just for my creative writing- I've been doing a lot for my Creative Writing class and I think I'd like to share that! So I'll put up a link as soon as that's done!

Let's see, not too much going on lately. The weather's been ridiculous, so up and down! I wish it would just be spring already! :)

Oh yeah! A couple weeks ago, we had Preference (Ladie's Choice Dance). My group went to the Dr. Seuss one, and it was so cool! We made Dr. Seuss- themed shirts and it turned out really great. There were black lights and goldfish and the decorations were pretty sweet. It was a really fun time overall!
